Queen Camilla might be royalty now, but don’t expect her sister to curtsy anytime soon.
In a Tatler feature marking Queen Camilla and King Charles’ 20th wedding anniversary, royal author Robert Hardman revealed that Annabel Elliot, 76, still finds it “impossible” to curtsy to her older sister.
“I sometimes look at her, and I can’t really believe it,” Annabel told Tatler.
Despite skipping the royal gesture, Annabel has been a major support to the Queen, especially through a tough 2024 that included King Charles’ cancer diagnosis, Camilla’s own health issues, and the death of her beloved dog.
Dubbed her “rock” by The Sun, Annabel is also one of Camilla’s official “companions”, a modern spin on the traditional lady-in-waiting.
Her loyalty was on full display during the King’s coronation last year, when she teared up seeing her sister ride to Westminster Abbey in the royal coach.
“It was surreal. This cannot be happening,” she said in the BBC doc Charles III: The Coronation Year.
Princess Anne also praised Camilla’s transformation into Queen, calling her impact on King Charles “absolutely outstanding.”
“She’s made a real difference,” Anne said. “She’s been incredibly generous and understanding.”
