There is a serious debate going on but it has nothing to do with Trump tariffs, crime, climate change, or other issues Earth is suffering through at this very moment.
It all started when a seemingly random user on Facebook posted an AI-generated image of a modified version of Mount Rushmore.
The picture replaced the familiar faces of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln with Eminem, Mac Miller, Paul Wall and Russ.
The photo was simply captioned “The White rapper Mount Rushmore.”
The author of the divisive post is known as ‘Devo Media’ and it is safe to assume that even he could not have predicted the chaos he was about to cause.
Soon after the internet discovered the post, it started making rounds on different platforms. Many reshared it on Instagram, criticising the original author for leaving out their favourite Caucasian rapper.
The chaos escalated when X, formerly Twitter, was made aware of the existence of such a proclamation.
Some praised Devo Media for his bravery in making such bold claims, others were not pleased with his apparent ignorance.
The discourse ultimately deviated to the rappers on that fateful AI Mount Rushmore, with most agreeing that Eminem’s recognition is well earned but common ground ended with the Detroit rapper.
X users quickly began posting their own versions of “The White rapper Mount Rushmore” using Artificial Intelligence image generation.
One user even went as far as to replace Eminem with his longtime rival, Machine Gun Kelly.
Others posted their own versions with Post Malone, Mike Shinoda and Lil Dicky (yes, you read that correctly).
The debate is still raging on various platforms—not only about whether Devo Media’s rappers deserve to be on “The White rapper Mount Rushmore” but also about who should be up there.
Some are even declaring that there should not be a “The White rapper Mount Rushmore” after all.
The rivalry between rappers Eminem and Machine Gun Kelly started in 2012 when the latter called the former’s 16-year-old daughter "hot as f**k” on social media.
