Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift may no longer see each other every day like they once did on tour—but their bond hasn’t faded. In fact, it’s stronger and more meaningful than ever.

In a new appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Sheeran, 34, opened up about his decade-long friendship with Swift, 35, revealing how the two global superstars manage to stay close despite their jam-packed schedules.

Their friendship first blossomed in 2012, when Sheeran joined Swift on her Red tour as an opening act. That era birthed their hit collaboration Everything Has Changed, and according to Sheeran, the memories of that time still bring on a wave of nostalgia.

“I literally spent almost every single day with her for about six months,” Ed said, recalling how both artists were based in Nashville and even flew to shows together. “I think of that period, yeah—2013.”

He said the memories resurfaced recently while going through old voice notes and texts for his 2023 copyright trial over Thinking Out Loud. He was eventually found not liable.

Although those long tour days are behind them, the pair are still deeply connected.

“I probably see her like four times a year,” he shared. “Instead of catching up in little bits, we have a proper sit-down, six-hour catchups. And I think that’s a really nice way to do it.”

The Perfect hitmaker also explained why those rare hangouts mean so much. In a 2023 interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Sheeran said he values his talks with Swift because she “truly understands” what his life is like.

“She’s one of the only people that actually truly understands where I’m at,” Ed said at the time. “That in itself is kind of therapy… talking to someone that genuinely gets it.”
