A Yellowstone prequel is set to be in the works with actor Luke Grimes confirmed to lead, having starred as Kayce Dutton in the original series.
This will be the newest addition to the Yellowstone universe, joining 1883, 1923, as well as the upcoming show The Madison with Michelle Pfeiffer and Matthew Fox.
There is another unnamed spinoff starring Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser from the original series, reprising their roles as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler.
“The Duttons own the largest ranch in America and deal with their internal conflicts. However, they must also fend off land encroachers to protect their property,” reads the synopsis to the original.
It has not been confirmed in what timeline the series will be taking place, if it’s after the events of the original, then it will also likely star Monica (Kelsey Asbille) and Tate (Brecken Merrill).
If it takes place before the show, it will likely show Kayce during his years as a Navy SEAL, which was never fully discussed in the show.
Grimes is also a country music star, and he ended up releasing a self-titled album back in May 2024.
