Ben Affleck talks denying son $6K sneakers

Actor Ben Affleck is giving the term “tough love” a new meaning.

Last week, Ben took his 13-year-old son, Samuel, to a sneaker convention where the son quickly took a liking to a pair of sneakers. However, Ben's reaction after seeing the price of the shoes had everyone talking.

“That's a lot of lawns you gotta mow there,” the 52-year-old joked and insisted his son liked the shoes because of their expensive price tag. The sneakers in question were a pair of $6,000 Dior Air Force 1s.

The actor doubled down on his comments over the weekend when speaking with Access Hollywood.

"That's what happens when you tell a mother, they have to mow a lawn," Ben said at the South by Southwest premiere of his latest movie, The Accountant 2. "All of a sudden, they don't want those shoes,” he continued.

Ben also revealed he told Samuel that he does not need expensive shoes, to which his son insisted they can afford them. Ben then responded to his son with a jab: “I have the money, you're broke.”

Seems like little Samuel could not get his father to budge on the shoes.

Ben and his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, share three children. The oldest being 19-year-old Violet, followed by 16-year-old Seraphina with Samuel being the youngest.
