Hugh Jackman and now-former wife Deborra-Lee Furness announced their separation after 27 years of marriage on Friday.
The twosome released a joint statement to People, sharing, “We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage.”
“Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.”
The couple insisted their family is their first priority as they “undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness."
“We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.”
Signed “Deb and Hugh Jackman,” the statement concluded, “This is the sole statement either of us will make.”
While the unexpected split came as a shock to fans, an insider revealed to Page Six that the couple's separation had been a “a long time coming.”
A Broadway insider told the outlet that they weren’t surprised at all, adding, “It happened a while ago. Friends and family knew about it.”
What really intrigued the fans is that prior to break this news the Wolverine actor shared his advice on how his marriage has lasted nearly three decades.
"I think honesty and intimacy and making time. You can't just assume that things will just tick along. You have to make time," Jackman told Smooth Radio's Myleene Klass.
Jackman, 54 and Furness, 67, united in a marriage on 1996. They shared two adoptive kids namely , Oscar Maximilian Jackman, 23 and Ava Eliot Jackman, 18.
