BTS' J-Hope rocks new buzz cut as he joins mandatory military service

J-Hope of BTS shows off a buzzed mohawk and bids farewell to fans as he prepares for the service

BTS member J-Hope, real name Jung Ho-seok, is all set to spend the next 18 to 21 months in the army

J-Hope became the second BTS member to enlist in the army with the first one being Jin.

The pop star had earlier revealed on social media that he would be getting a new haircut before fulfilling his mandatory military service.

He later shared a photo of himself on Instagram with a faded haircut, saying goodbye to his fans, also known as the BTS army, through a handwritten note which read, "I’ll have a good trip!"

J-Hope also known  as  Jung Ho-seok and producer of the band  is all set to join armed services. Before him Jin entered the  army at the end of 2022.

In March, both Jimin and J-hope paid a visit to Jin, who had already started his mandatory military service. 

Jin shared pictures on his Instagram account, featuring himself dressed in army fatigues with his bandmates on either side. The Korean caption read, "Welcome."

Under South Korean law, all able-bodied men between the ages of 18 and 28 are required to serve in the military for 18 to 21 months.

In recognition of BTS's contributions to South Korea's global cultural reach, the government granted the band members a two-year extension on their military service.

During a recent interview on CNN's Quest on Business, Bang Si-hyuk, the founder of BIGHIT MUSIC, BTS' record label, discussed the band's reduced group activities due to the members' mandatory military service in South Korea.

He also provided assurances regarding their future plans.

"When it comes to their careers, no artist would willingly take such a long break. However, we understand that serving the country is a separate matter and we are committed to doing so faithfully and gladly," Bang Si-hyuk in an interview when asked about the military obligations of BTS members.

"BTS and I have been discussing this since early 2018,

 "It has been a long-discussed issue, and we are not done yet."
