It is no secret that Keanu Reeves and Tom Cruise have been touted as Hollywood's stunt maestros but the former has seemingly undermined all his work to "playing in the mud".
In a conversation with movie critic Eric Eisenberg at the Los Angeles press day for John Wick: Chapter 4, Reeves made it clear that his dangerous stunt work was nothing compared to Cruise, who ordinarily has made it his mission to put his life on the line for his films.
While Reeves and Cruise have exclusively starred in action films and went to great lengths of rigorous training to perform their own stunts, even at 58 and 60 respectively, the former gave an extremely humble response to the Eisenberg’s comparison.
The actor reminded that Cruise jumped off the Burj Khalifa and rode motorcycles off a cliff while he himself plays it more safe.
"What Tom Cruise does is extraordinary and special and something that... Again, another legend in another universe," he began.
"I'm more like on the ground playing in the mud and he's like flying and jumping and outside of buildings and helicopters, fighter jets. So what he's doing in terms of the events that he's participating in, I think is extraordinary. And his passion for it, his skill, his talent just shines."
To segue, Eisenberg ,of Cinema Blend, also gave his verdict on John Wick: Chapter 4 following its premiere.
"I had reservations about John Wick: Chapter 4’s nearly three hour runtime, but the movie earns it," he wrote on Twitter.
"It’s an epic with smart pacing that never lets the action feel exhausting, and the set pieces are phenomenal. Great cast of series newcomers, but Donnie Yen is the MVP," Eisenberg added.
