Actress, model, and director, Stella Stevens has died. She was 84.
According to Deadline, the late actress passed away after her long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Steven’s son, Andrew Stevens, confirmed the news of her demise to the media outlet.
Maria Calabrese, the late model’s manager, and friend paid her tribute as “one of the most wonderful and gifted people” and “the OG of strong Hollywood women.”
“She was an amazing animal lover, horse wrangler, rock and roller, so ahead of her time and so much more than a sex symbol – which her adoring fans admired her for and understood,” she told Deadline.
“What a tremendous body of work and loss,” Calabrese added.
Born on October 1, 1938, in Yazoo City, Minnesota, Steven’s was discovered by 20th Century Fox in the ‘60s, securing an acting contract with Paramount and later Columbia.
The Say One for Me star went on to star opposite many big names at the time, including Elvis Presley in Girls! Girls! Girls!, Bobby Darin in Too Late Blues, Chuck Conners in Synanon, Dean Martin in How to Save a Marriage and Ruin Your Life, Jerry Lewis in The Nutty Professor, and Ernest Borgnine in The Poseidon Adventure.
Her extensive film credits include The Ballad of Cable Hogue, Where Angels Go Trouble Follows! and The Silencers, among others.
Stevens also won a Golden Globe as Most Promising Newcomer for her first film, 1959’s Say One for Me.
