Bob McGrath, Original ‘Sesame Street’ Star dies at 90

Bob McGrath left Sesame Street.

Bob McGrath, a longstanding cast member of the well-known children's programme Sesame Street, passed away at the age of 90, according to his family.

On his official Facebook page, the actor's family posted the breaking news.

“Our father, Bob McGrath, passed away today. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family,” the statement read.

When Sesame Street first aired in the 1960s, McGrath made his first appearance on the programme. In the 1969 series pilot, which marked the beginning of 47 seasons, he appeared as himself.

He finished with an episode titled "Having a Ball" and left in 2017.

In addition to performing, McGrath also provided original music, including the show's theme tune as well as "People in Your Neighborhood," "Sing a Song," "If You're Happy And You Know It," and others.
