Steve Harvey and his wife are mourning the loss of a beloved member of his family.
The Celebrity Family Feud host revealed on Instagram that his father-in-law, James A. Bridges Sr. the father of Steve’s wife Marjorie Harvey had died at the age of 91. According to ABC 24 Memphis, Bridges passed away on June 1.
Sharing the news with followers on June 5 Steve posted an emotional tribute reflecting on the bond he shared with his father-in-law whom he affectionately called “Pop Bridges.”
“Yesterday we buried one of the best men I’ve ever met,” Steve wrote. “James Bridges Sr., Marjorie’s father … but to me, Pop Bridges. Thank you, sir, for the example of faith, fatherhood, and family.”
Marjorie responded to her husband’s message with a brief but heartfelt note of appreciation, writing in the comments, “Thank you, my love .”
Fans quickly rallied around the family flooding the comments section with messages of support and sympathy.
“Sending my condolences to Marjorie and your entire family,” one follower wrote while another added “My prayers are with you and Marjorie’s family.
May God strengthen you all.”
A third commented, “I am so so so sorry for your family’s huge loss.”
The grief was also shared by Steve and Marjorie’s daughter Lori Harvey who posted her own emotional tribute to her grandfather a few days later.
“My sweetiepie grandaddy,” Lori wrote on June 9 alongside a carousel of photos. “It’s been a week since you left. The hardest week of my life. I miss you every second of every day.”
“I love you, I love you, I love you,” she continued. “Until we meet again.”
The heartfelt messages offered a glimpse into the close bond the Harvey family shared with Bridges as they continue to grieve his loss together.
