Richard Hammond has finally addressed the long-running rumours that he was banned from Jeremy Clarkson’s Cotswolds pub and his response was exactly what fans might have expected.
The former Top Gear and Grand Tour presenter was asked about the speculation in a new Q&A video for DriveTribe where he gave a characteristically tongue-in-cheek answer about whether Clarkson had barred him from visiting The Farmer’s Dog.
“Actually, do you know, I think I am,” Hammond said. “I think I am, and if I’m not, I’ve always said I want to be.”
The comment adds fresh fuel to a rumour that has followed Clarkson’s pub since it opened in August 2024.
The Farmer’s Dog which is located in Oxfordshire was launched as an extension of Clarkson’s Diddly Squat farm venture and has since become part of the wider Clarkson’s Farm world.
Reports circulated when the pub first opened that Clarkson had banned both Hammond and fellow Grand Tour co-star James May from visiting.
While the claim was never seriously confirmed it quickly became part of the trio’s long-running habit of publicly winding each other up.
Hammond has previously admitted that he has never actually been to the pub but said that trying to get himself banned was part of the attraction.
Speaking on The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X last year he joked: “No, I haven’t [been to Jeremy’s pub]. I want to go and get banned. So I’ve got to summon the energy to do that. I don’t think it’ll be that difficult. I think he’s already banned James.”
