Country singer Jon Pardi and his wife Summer Pardi have announced they are ending their marriage after five years together.
The couple shared the news in a joint Instagram statement on Friday, July 3, saying they had made the “difficult decision” to separate.
Jon, 41, and Summer, 37, said their daughters Presley Fawn, 3, and Sienna Grace, 2, will remain their top priority as they move forward.
“After much thought, we have made the difficult decision to end our marriage,” the pair wrote. “Our daughters will always remain our highest priority and we are committed to moving forward with love and respect as co-parents.”
They added: “Thank you so much for your understanding, support, and respect as we navigate these changes as a family.”
Shortly after the announcement Jon told fans on Instagram Stories that he would be stepping back from social media for a while to focus on his family.
“Thanks to you all for the love and support,” he wrote. “My team will handle posting for the time being. I'll see you at the shows.”
The split comes while Jon is on his Honkytonk Hollywood tour which is scheduled to run through December.
Just before the divorce announcement Summer had been posting updates from her day with their daughters sharing a video from the gym and a glimpse of her devotional books.
Jon and Summer first met in May 2017 after being set up on a blind date by Ellen Moxley who was a client of Summer’s and also a friend of Jon’s mother. Summer later said she knew very quickly that Jon was the one.
“Within the first five minutes of meeting Jon, it was game over for me,” she previously said in an interview. “I texted my mom, ‘Sell my house, sell my car, send my dog.’”
Jon proposed two years later during the Nashville stop of his Heartache Medication tour. The couple married in 2020 at Saddle Woods Farm in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, after changing their wedding plans because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the time Jon described Summer as “love at first sight” and said their relationship felt different from any he had experienced before.
“Summer was love at first sight for the first time ever in my life,” he told PEOPLE. “She was the first girl I’ve ever dated where I felt like she had my back and that we really are a team.”
The former couple have not shared any further details about the split.
