Al Pacino recently revealed his true feelings after being named the recipient of the Sam Wanamaker Award last week.

The Oscar-winning actor honoured with the award, which is established by Shakespeare's Globe in 1994.

Reflecting on his achievement, Pacino said, “Throughout my life, the theatre has given me a sense of purpose and belonging, and Shakespeare has always been a guiding force in that journey.”

The actor is known for his iconic performances in movies including Scarface and The Godfather trilogy, as well as he appeared on stage, performing Shakespearean characters.

“Shakespeare’s writing, in all its dimensions, has been a continuing presence in my life, and so many others,” stated the 86-year-old.

Pacino added, “To receive the Sam Wanamaker Award at Shakespeare’s Globe – a living testament to Sam’s passion and dedication to the theatre – is a profound honour. I’m deeply grateful.”

Besides acting, he wrote and directed the 1996 documentary Looking For Richard, which explored the contemporary significance and accessibility of the Bard's plays.

Meanwhile, Pacino will appear in the role of King Lear in the forthcoming film Lear Rex, alongside Jessica Chastain and Ariana DeBose.
