Kate Mansi has shocked everyone with the sudden move that even her co-stars were not aware of.
She kept her General Hospital exit a secret from co-star Maurice Benard for many reasons.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with TV Insider, the actress addressed the topic of departure and revealed, "The truth is, I was afraid to tell people and feel sad talking about it,"
She explained, "And then, Nancy, Kristen [Vaganos, Molly Lansing], and Rory [Gibson, Michael Corinthos] were the first people I told because it directly affected my family, and I wanted to give them a heads up. So, we had time to process it together."
It is to be noted that Kate has been working on this project for three long years now.
She then opened up about the close bond she has with her onscreen father and how scared she was, "I couldn't bear telling Maurice in advance because we have such a close relationship, "So, I waited until our last episode, and it gave us such beautiful scenes together."
The 38-year-old also added that revealing the news before the last scenes also helped them capture the raw emotions.
it gave us such beautiful scenes together. He was crying, and he asked me in rehearsal, 'Is this it, kid? Are you really leaving?' And I said, 'Yes.' He gave me a big hug, and we both cried," she concluded.
It is to be noted that Kate's character has moved abroad to study medicine and has made her quiet exit from the show.
