Sean Penn was nowhere to be seen at the Oscars, and he has just revealed why.
The American actor recently received an award for his supporting actor in Leonardo DiCaprio-led movie, One Battle After Another.
Now, present with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins for a Storytellers series, he explained why he decided to "skip" the important event.
It is to be noted that the interview took place at the Tribeca Festival in New York on Friday, June 5.
The filmmaker said, "[The Oscars] always represented social discomfort to me,"
He went on to reveal that he intentionally avoided the event because he usually feels very uncomfortable with a lot of people around him.
The 65-year-old said that he experienced the Golden Globe Awards before the Oscars and that is when he made the decision, "I’d never been to that before. And that’s where I decided, ‘I can’t do this.’"
He also gushed that gathering more than eight people at a time is something he just doesn't like.
"I won’t go anywhere to be with a designated group beyond eight people. If you cut out two hours for your night, it gives you 15 minutes per person." he concluded.
As per the Oscar Award winner, the reason for all the was "just anxiety- and dread-inducing."
It is to be noted that Sean decided to visit Ukraine amid the Oscar Awards and received a "special Oscar" there made of metal, which came from a Ukrainian railway carriage that was damaged by a Russian missile.
