Holly Madison has opened up about her lifelong love for Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe.
The 46-year-old actress revealed that she has adored the screen legend since childhood and still feels deeply connected to her today.
Speaking at a glittering event at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles on June 1, marking what would have been Monroe’s 100th birthday, Madison shared how stepping inside the special “Marilyn Monroe: Hollywood Icon” exhibition brought back a flood of memories.
“I grew up loving this set of Marilyn Monroe paper dolls, so to see all those outfits in real life, I’m so excited,” she told PEOPLE, clearly emotional as she toured the display. “It’s a beautiful event.”
The former Girls Next Door star also admitted that Monroe’s films have remained a constant comfort throughout her life.
She said that watching her on screen feels like visiting an “old friend.”
She revealed her top three favourite movies are Bus Stop, How to Marry a Millionaire and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, although she confessed her favourites often change depending on her mood.
Madison spoke warmly about Monroe’s enduring appeal, praising not only her glamour but also her determination behind the scenes.
“Marilyn’s so glamorous, but I think I just love how she tried so hard to take charge of her own career and really shaped her own destiny,” she said, highlighting the star’s fight for control in a tough industry.
The star-studded celebration gave guests a rare look at Monroe’s life and legacy, including iconic costumes from her biggest films and the legendary “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” dress.
Attendees included Behati Prinsloo, Dita Von Teese, January Jones, Laura Bell Bundy, Kate Flannery and Michael Urie, all paying tribute to the timeless blonde bombshell whose legacy still dazzles 100 years on.
