David Harbour has revealed the one thing he secretly admired most about his younger Stranger Things co-stars.

The 51-year-old actor, who plays gruff fan-favourite Jim Hopper in the hit Netflix drama, admitted he was stunned by how relaxed the younger cast members were while filming the global phenomenon.

Speaking at an event in Los Angeles, David laughed as he recalled the chaotic energy on set with stars including Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard and Sadie Sink.

“These kids were just enjoyable as hell,” he said.

“A lot of kid actors can be very actor-y, but these guys were just kids at heart.”

And according to him, that carefree attitude sometimes led to some seriously hilarious moments during filming.

“Even during takes, they would fart and do things you just couldn’t believe,” he joked.

“I would dream of being able to do that and not be self-conscious in front of a camera!”

Despite the toilet humour, Hellboy star said working with the young cast became one of the most meaningful experiences of his career.

He described the first season as a “miraculous time” and admitted the bond formed behind the scenes helped him through Hopper’s darker emotional storyline.

Still, the Violent Night actor confessed he isn’t blindly loyal to the smash-hit series.

David revealed he can be “very critical” of the show and sometimes gets “very mad” if he dislikes an episode.
