Lisa Curry opens up about painful health battle following split from Grant Kenny

Lisa Curry is candidly reflecting on the serious health struggles that contributed to the breakdown of her marriage to former Ironman champion Grant Kenny. 

The Australian Olympian revealed that a long battle with heart-related medical issues placed enormous emotional strain on both her personal life and wellbeing.

According to Daily Mail, Curry underwent surgery in 2008 after being diagnosed with myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle caused by infection. 

The condition led doctors to implant a pacemaker after she experienced dangerous irregular heart rhythms. She later faced further complications when her body reportedly began rejecting the device.

Moreover, the former swimmer has also spoken publicly in recent years about suffering from atrial fibrillation, a condition that causes an irregular and often rapid heartbeat. 

Curry admitted the diagnosis left her exhausted and emotionally overwhelmed, particularly while coping with family trauma and the death of her daughter, Jaimi Kenny, in 2020.

As per the outlet, Curry and Kenny separated in 2009 after more than two decades of marriage.

While the pair were once considered one of Australia’s most beloved sporting couples, Curry later explained that the pressures of health problems, work stress and emotional exhaustion gradually drove them apart.

Despite their separation, Curry has said she and Kenny remain connected through their children and shared grief following the loss of their daughter.
