John Travolta has finally addressed the internet buzz over his latest Cannes look, revealing the tribute behind his eye catching beret looks.
The Grease star drew attention after wearing different versions of the classic French cap while promoting his directorial debut Propeller One-Way Night Coach.
Speaking to CNN, the 72-year-old disclosed the fashion choice was inspired by old school filmmakers.
“The old school directors wore berets and the glasses. And I thought, that's what I'm doing,” he said.
The actor explained that he wanted the look to help him remember the special moment in his career.
“I've been around for over 50 years doing movies, but I can't tell, when I look back, the difference between the events,” he shared.
“And I said, ‘I'm a director this time. You're an actor, play the part of a director. Look like an old school director,’” he added.
Moreover, he mentioned that he looked at photos of famous filmmakers before creating the style.
For the unversed, the actor’s Cannes appearance sparked mixed reactions online, with some fans roasting the unusual look while others praised his bold fashion choice.
