Martin Short breaks up with Meryl Streep due to THIS reason

Martin Short and Meryl Streep reportedly split after the family tragedy took a major toll on their relationship.

A source revealed to Radar Online that Martin has been “pushed forward amid the grief,” especially after losing his eldest daughter Katherine in February.

“Martin adored Katherine, the sun rose and set with her, so naturally, he's devastated,” said an insider.

For now, Martin asked Meryl to give him space as he wanted to focus on healing what’s left of his family.

However, this has left the Mamma Mia! star frustrated because “Meryl is having a hard time getting through to Martin right now, and she's very concerned”.

The source confirmed that Meryl “loves Martin unconditionally, and it's just devastating to see him so broken”.

Amid trying times, Meryl “is reveling in all the Devil Wears Prada 2 attention,” but Martin, who skipped out on the Actor Awards, is “slowly coming out of” hiding himself.

Although the estranged pair were romantically linked in 2024, the source pointed out that both stars never “referred to each other as boyfriends and girlfriend”.

“But they have been incredibly close,” said an insider.

Another source added, “The hope is that once things start to calm down, they can find a way to reconnect.”
