Britney Spears went out for dinner at a restaurant but the innocent outing went south when reports of the singer behaving oddly came out.

The Toxic singer was reportedly sharing a table with two people at Blue Dog Tavern in Sherman Oaks on May 14.

She apparently then started screaming and barking, and some other customers also noted that the experience was crazy and that she was walking by their table holding a knife.

A statement by the 44-year-old’s representative to People has now denied the reports and revealed the truth of the situation.

"Britney was enjoying a quiet dinner with her assistant and bodyguard. She was simply telling the story about how her dog was barking at the neighbors. At no point did she put anyone in danger with a knife. She was cutting her hamburger in half,” the spokesperson said.

“This constant attack on everything that she does and this is exactly what happened 20 years ago when the media tried to depict Britney as a bad person. This is ridiculous and it needs to stop now," they added.

Britney has repeatedly been at the center of controversies and reports of reckless behaviour in public, which is why the representative defended her in such a way.
