Ariel Winter takes major relationship step with beau Luke Benward

Ariel Winter and longtime boyfriend Luke Benward have quietly gone their separate ways after nearly six years of dating. 

Sources close to the former couple revealed that Winter and Benward actually split in August 2025 but decided to keep the breakup private. 

Insiders told People that the pair realized they were “better as friends” and ended things on amicable terms.

Despite the breakup, the two reportedly remain close and continue co-parenting their six dogs together. 

Moreover, the former couple first sparked romance rumors in late 2019 after years of friendship before officially going public with their relationship.

Winter, best known for playing Alex Dunphy on the hit sitcom Modern Family, frequently spoke positively about Benward throughout their relationship, previously describing him as her “safe space” during difficult periods in her life.

The pair made their last public appearance together in July 2025 while promoting their thriller film Don’t Log Off, which they co-produced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since the split, Winter has continued focusing on her acting career, including her return to the beloved animated franchise Sofia the First.
