Nick Lachey reflects on unexpected reunion with Jessica Simpson

Nick Lachey has shared details about an unexpected encounter with ex-wife Jessica Simpson during a recent flight to Hawaii, marking the first time the former couple had seen each other in nearly two decades.

Speaking on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Lachey described the reunion as “strangely okay” and said the atmosphere remained cordial throughout the six-and-a-half-hour journey.

The former Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica stars, who were married from 2002 until their divorce in 2006, reportedly traveled on the same flight from Los Angeles to Hawaii alongside their families. 

According to Daily Mail, Lachey was accompanied by his wife, Vanessa Lachey, and their three children, while Simpson traveled with her mother and children.

Rumors about the encounter first surfaced in April, with reports claiming the situation was awkward and that Simpson switched seats to avoid sitting near her ex-husband. 

However, Lachey dismissed suggestions of tension, insisting everyone remained respectful during the flight.

The former couple’s high-profile relationship became a pop culture phenomenon in the early 2000s through their MTV reality show Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica. 

Since their split, both stars have moved on with their personal lives and families, though the surprise reunion has reignited public interest in their once-famous romance.
