Peter Falk’s hilarious Frank Sinatra roast as 'Columbo' resurfaces online

A decades-old television moment featuring actor Peter Falk hilariously roasting Frank Sinatra while dressed as his iconic detective character Columbo is once again capturing attention online.

The memorable appearance took place during The Dean Martin Celebrity Roast in 1978, where Falk arrived fully in character as the rumpled detective from the hit crime series Columbo. 

Instead of delivering harsh insults typical of celebrity roasts, Falk leaned into Columbo’s famously awkward and absent-minded personality, earning laughs from both Sinatra and the star-studded audience.

During the performance, Falk shuffled across the stage, repeatedly interrupting himself and asking Sinatra for an autograph for his wife, perfectly recreating the detective’s signature mannerisms and comedic timing.

Falk portrayed Lieutenant Columbo from 1968 until 2003, turning the trench coat-wearing detective into one of television’s most beloved characters.
