Meryl Streep told Bravo that she is delighted to keep starring in big Hollywood films at her age.
She noted just before her 77th birthday as older women are hardly ever given a chance in the acting industry.
The triple Oscar-winner actress conducted a press conference in Japan with Anne Hathaway.
This was to promote The Devil Wears Prada 2 where she plays her legendary role of Miranda Priestly.
Streep said with a laugh that "I do think that there's something in this one that's unusual."
The veteran star shared the reason, "you don't see many 70-, almost 77-year-old women playing parts like this in any movie or under any circumstance."
She continued, "So I'm happy to represent, you know? "Often women over 50, I'd say, disappear into the woodwork."
She stressed, "their interests and opinions are less valued in our culture, so it's fun to see this person who is credibly placed in the world and having that influence."
The follow-up after 20 years of the original 2006 movie, stars Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci as well as new actors such as Kenneth Branagh and Lucy Liu.
As Variety stated, the movie traces Priestly as she maneuvers through the downfall of the traditional magazine publishing and confronts the character of Blunt, an executive now.
Streep was nominated in an Oscar award due to her acting in the first Devil Wears Prada.
The sequel of the comedy film is scheduled to be released on May 1.
