Miley Cyrus, returning in her signature blonde wig and straight bangs, has made a shocking admission.
The 33-year-old pop sensation, who shot to fame as Hannah Montana on Disney’s hit sitcom from 2006 to 2011, has admitted that her daring image reinvention was one of the smartest moves of her career.
The Grammy winner didn’t shy away from controversy when she swapped her wholesome teen persona for a bolder, more risqué image in her late teens.
And looking back, the Flowers singer has no regrets.
Speaking to Variety, Miley said: “I boldly and unapologetically presented myself to the world at that time, where I could have gone the other way and played it safe.
Maybe that would have been successful at the time… but I wouldn’t have had the reward. I don’t know if I would have had the sustainability that my career has now.”
The songstress, daughter of country star Billy Ray Cyrus, revealed she avoided some of the pressures faced by other child stars.
“My parents didn’t need me to be famous to survive or to be stable,” she explained.
Despite her long-standing career, the Wrecking Ball hitmaker admits she is not tied to the entertainment industry forever.
It’s worth noting that she’s reviving her iconic character to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
Moreover, there’s exciting news for fans as Miley hinted that fellow singer Selena Gomez, famous for Barney & Friends and The Wizards of Waverly Place, could also make an appearance.
