Travis Scott has revealed that Kid Cudi’s 2009 hit Soundtrack 2 My Life was the moment he realised he could “probably make it” as a rapper.

The 34-year-old superstar, known for hits like SICKO MODE, has long admired the Pursuit of Happiness hitmaker.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Travis described the track as “the soundtrack to my life,” saying, “From 0:00 to the end of the song, I felt like we were brothers or something. We live like the same life.”

At the time, he was a senior in high school, and hearing Cudi’s music gave him hope.

“I was like, ‘You know what, I could probably make it,’” he admitted.

“People gotta understand, Cudi came out and was moving albums and s***. To me, I was like, ‘Wow, people are really resonating with this.’ ”

The Latin Grammy Award winner also recalled one of his first concerts ever, seeing Cudi headline with Asher Roth opening.

“He had the LED screen and it was this black-and-white thing… I remember looking around like people are really receptive to this guy’s story. I was like, ‘Okay, people will hopefully understand the story I got to tell,' ” he said.

Interestingly, Travis even took the “Scott” in his stage name from Cudi’s real name, Scott Mescudi.

The pair first collaborated in 2016 on Thru The Late Night and have worked together on tracks including THE SCOTTS, LOOOVE, and Baptized in Fire.

Back in 2019, Travis told Playboy that he connected with Cudi’s storytelling and adopted his own style, blending melodies and rap to share his own story.
