Pop culture randomly decided to rebrand 2026 as the new 2016 and everyone followed along, from celebrities to influencers. The iconic era was officially a decade ago and is now being celebrated with a trip down memory lane.

While the trend was almost everywhere before the dawn of the New Year, the online community scrolled through their old Blackberry and iPhone in January, sharing memories that turn 10 this year.

The feeling intensified as Instagram officially reminisced the then popular Rio De Janeiro filter. Listed down are all the celebrities that left fans gasping with their remarkable candid moments:

1. Kylie Jenner

Crowned the "It" girl of the era, Kylie Jenner topped the list with her carousel on social media. 

The model insisted “you just had to be there” as she flaunted her colourful wigs and tumblr inspired fit checks. She also shared a click of her viral lip gloss that shook the beauty world. In one of the clicks, Kylie can be seen in bold, plumped red lips as she captures her mirror selfie.

2. Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba reminisced about the year, calling it the “era of Snapchat filters, boomerangs, sepia tones, 1 photo across the grid.” The actress listed down everything that was popular back then, mentioning costume parties, flower crowns, carefree nights, side parts and much more. The carousel featured her funky pictures and videos while she placed her iconic white fit and boots as the cover.

3. James Charles

The makeup artist that everyone wanted to be 10 years back. For him, he owned the year with his “black leather baseball cap & facetune.” The artist shared multiple looks which resonated with the era, bold eyebrows, winged liner and over lined lip.

4. Shakira

The Waka Waka crooner recalled the time she became Gazelle for Zootopia. The singer shared a carousel of her posing with Officer bunny, recording for the show-stopper performance and her red-carpet looks that broke the internet.

5. Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran revealed an unseen photo dump despite not being a social media user. The Perfect hitmaker was candidly shot picking up a lego house from a toy shop, pokemon pillows and balling. He shared a funky click with two Grammys and his guitar.

6. Donatella Versace

Donatella Versace, the artistic director of high end fashion brand, was all smiles in the time capsule as she posed for pictures with Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Lady Gaga, Irina Shayk, Kate Hudson, Anna Wintour and Serena Williams in the photo dump. She captioned the heartwarming post with: “Are we doing this then? #2016”

7. Demi Lovato

The era for Demi Lovato meant dog filter, curvy body, layered bob, nude lips and electric performances. In one of the pictures from carousel, Demi stood between the former president of the United States Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama.

8. The Chainsmokers

The Chainsmokers owned the phase with their music, most noticeably songs like Closer and Don’t Let Me Down. The singers were labelled the OGs of 2016 as they dabbed and stood beside Drake. The two captioned the post with: “I mean… if we are really gonna talk about 2016.”

9. Hailey Bieber

Hailey Bieber’s memories seem straight out of a pinterest board, carrying carefree aesthetics. The Rhode founder rocked her pink locks and kissed her now-husband in one of the photographs. However, her over the shoulder pose has remained constant. The carousel was re-shared by Kylie as she was also featured in Mrs. Bieber’s update.

10. Dua Lipa

Fans might soon be able to have a look at Dua Lipa’s old pictures as the new trend and unmatched memories are making the songstress “wanna un archive everything.” The songstress wore interesting shades, chic fits, chokers and jackets around her waist. A boomerang showed her a bathtub as she enjoys a scenic view.
