Ellie Goulding has been awarded an MBE in King Charles’ New Year Honours List in recognition of her services to biodiversity and climate action.
She is among 1,157 recipients named on the honours list, which also includes fellow music star Cynthia Erivo and actor and DJ Idris Elba, 53.
The English singer, whose real name is Elena Jane Goulding, rose to fame in he 2010’s for her pop songs.
Born on December 30, 1986 in Hereford, Herefordshire, England, Ellie had a troubled upbringing with financial issues as she described her childhood as “super poor”.
In 2014, she joined the charity group Band Aid 30 along with other artists to recreate Do They Know It's Christmas?, to raise money for the 2014 Ebola crisis in West Africa.
In 2018, she joined the United Nations Foundation as a Global Ambassador.
For her fifth studio album, Higher Than Heaven, Ellie made special efforts to ensure it would feature eco-friendly packaging.
The 39-year-old has given hit songs like Lights, Love Me Like You Do, On My Mind and many more.
Currently, she is dating American actor Beau Minniear, with whom she is also expecting her second child.
