Jamie Lee Curtis recently revealed that she almost auditioned for the 1973 American horror movie The Exorcist.
However, the actress’ mother stopped her from auditioning and for that Jamie is still grateful.
She made an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, where she revealed that a producer of the movie was her mother, Janet Leigh’s friend who asked her to let Jamie audition.
The Psycho star did not let her audition. Jamie said, “really wanted me to have — thank God — a childhood, which I understand you didn't get. You didn't get that option.”
The actress, who is the daughter of Janet and Tony Curtis, was only 12 when the opportunity came up.
The role of Regan MacNeil was eventually played by Linda Blair who earned several awards for the role.
The film is considered monumental in Hollywood as it became the first horror film to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture along with nine others.
It has also impacted pop culture significantly in a way that it is considered one of the greatest of all time that changed the Horror genre.
