The 32-year-old pop superstar revealed the romantic proposal took place during a special trip to Japan, a country she had purposely never visited before.
“I am not easy to surprise because I love to control every situation, and I had completely surrendered. And I’m telling you, I was so, so surprised,” Miley gushed during a recent Good Morning America appearance.
The couple, who recently celebrated four years together, sparked engagement speculation after walking the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash.
The Flowers singer admitted the timing felt “perfectly thematic” with the film’s message of love, family and resilience as the themes clearly mirror her own life.
Since her high-profile split from Liam Hemsworth in 2020, she has been careful about keeping her love life private.
She told People: “The detail that I can share is that for us, being more protective of what I’m open to sharing.”
The Wrecking Ball hitmaker and Maxx, who began dating in 2021, have been “very compatible,” a source told Us Weekly.
Miley Cyrus co-wrote and performs the end-credits song, Dream as One. which she worked on alongside Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt.
The Hannah Montana actress has shared that the project holds personal value for her, including the loss of her home in a fire.
While fans initially speculated about a possible cameo, it has been confirmed that her contribution is purely musical rather than on-screen.
