Taylor Swift’s big news took Ed Sheeran by surprise: Here’s why

Ed Sheeran has recently made a shocking revelation about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement.

 The 35-year-old singer, who famously ditched his phone years ago, disclosed he only found out about Swift’s engagement to NFL star Kelce the same way everyone else did, and it was through social media.

The Perfect hitmaker admitted he had “no clue” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end had popped the question until the Bad Blood singer announced it on Instagram in August. 

Speaking to Access Hollywood, Sheeran explained that because he doesn’t use a mobile, he only sees posts when his management shows him updates on a laptop.

Despite missing the big news, the longtime friends made up for it in classic fashion, by talking non-stop for four hours when they finally saw each other a week later. 

“We just locked back in,” he said. “We’ve been friends for years, and it’s always the same — super close, super easy.”

The Opalite crooner later confessed on The Tonight Show that she did feel guilty about forgetting to tell him directly, but blamed his lack of a phone. “

Why did Ed Sheeran ditch his smart devices?

Ed Sheeran insists he’s happier living offline, saying he ditched all smart devices to stay “present” with wife Cherry and their daughters, Lyra and Jupiter. 

“Devices run people’s lives,” he said. “I just want to be with my family — not online 24/7.”
