Noah Schnapp was the major source of the plot twist in Stranger Things Season 5, but the twist was almost spoiled during the pre-release stages of the season.
The actor portraying Will Byers revealed that the poster for the fifth and final season almost gave away the midseason finale cliffhanger, showing his character positioned above the psychically powered Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and hinting at his own latent abilities.
While speaking to Glamour, Schnapp said, “It’s always supposed to kind of feel the vibe of the season and give an essence of where everyone’s characters stand in that era and chapter of our story.”
The actor said viewers can see the strength on Will’s face in the poster. Still, the creators, the Duffer brothers, didn’t want to spoil anything with “any blood, or anything, but as close as you can get. Everything is very intentional that we do.”
In the final moments of Stranger Things Season 5 Vol. 1, all seems lost as Demogorgons rampage through the military base while Will and his friends fight to escape, and Eleven remains trapped in the Upside Down.
Then, suddenly, the creatures freeze midair and begin to crumble, revealing that Will is telekinetically controlling them.
As Chapter Four: Sorcerer comes to a close, Will lifts his gaze and wipes the blood from his nose, a striking reminder of the side effects of Eleven’s powers.
