Prince William and Kate Middleton were reportedly left “blindsided” after Princess Beatrice made a surprise appearance at a high-profile event in Saudi Arabia, at the same time her parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, remain under intense scrutiny for their ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
Last month, Beatrice appeared at an event hosted at the luxurious Ritz-Carlton in Riyadh, advertised as an “afternoon tea with Princess Beatrice of York.”
The decision became a topic of discussion amongst royal circles. The timing of the event, coming just as fresh revelations emerged about Andrew and Sarah’s connections to the late convicted pedophile, was reportedly a major concern for senior royals, including the Prince and Princess of Wales.
A palace insider told Closer Magazine: "It was seen as tone-deaf, especially given the venue’s reputation and the recent controversies surrounding Andrew and Sarah. William and Kate were genuinely upset when the pictures emerged.”
“They have been very supportive of Beatrice and Eugenie and hope now that they will tow the Palace line."
According to the source, the unexpected appearance has triggered internal frustration, prompting renewed efforts to bring Beatrice and Princess Eugenie under tighter operational control.
The insider continued: "The Palace has made it crystal clear, every appearance must now be approved and vetted by senior aides before anyone gives it the go-ahead.”
“There’s now a push inside the Palace to impose an 'office-style' approval system on Beatrice and Eugenie’s future activities, to ensure there’s no repeat of such headlines. They can’t risk another scandal linked to the York name."
