A former friend of Sarah Ferguson has claimed that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor revealed his “true colours” during a dramatic moment while the duchess was seven months pregnant.
According to the account, Andrew walked away from his wife after she fell outside Harry’s Bar in Mayfair, just moments after he had allegedly learned of her affair.
The allegations come from author Dr Allan Starkie, who detailed the turbulent period in his memoir Fergie – Her Secret Life.
According to his reporting, Sarah’s affair with Texan businessman Steve Wyatt began while she was expecting Princess Eugenie.
Sarah had reportedly met Wyatt during a trip to Texas and, as Dr Starkie wrote, was becoming increasingly dissatisfied in her marriage.
Dr Starkie wrote: “It didn’t take long for Andrew to learn the truth about the affair.
‘Leaving Harry’s Bar in Mayfair after a party, Sarah tripped and fell. The normally courteous Andrew walked resolutely on, leaving his seven-month pregnant wife to pick herself up and chase after him.’”
Despite the fall, the duchess continued her relationship with Wyatt throughout the rest of her pregnancy. Shortly after the birth of Eugenie, Sarah is said to have travelled to Morocco with Wyatt—bringing along Princess Beatrice and two royal detectives.
Despite the scandals, Sarah and Andrew maintained an unusually close bond in the years that followed.
They continued to live together at Royal Lodge for 17 years, long after their divorce, something now coming to an end as the pair face eviction amid renewed scrutiny and fallout from their historical connections to Jeffrey Epstein.
