Duchess Sophie delivered a meaningful message during her solo tour of Peru this week, offering what many royal watchers believe was a subtle but powerful tribute to Princess Beatrice.
The Duchess of Edinburgh, 60, attended a special dinner on Tuesday evening marking the UK’s first year of the Biodiverse Landscape Fund programme, an environmental initiative focused on protecting some of the planet’s most vital ecosystems.
The event took place at the historic Casa de Fierro restaurant in Iquitos.
For the occasion, Sophie opted for one of her favoured labels, Beulah London, wearing the beautifully detailed Sienna Floral Bouquet dress.
The name of the dress, royal fans quickly noticed, pays sweet homage to Princess Beatrice’s daughter, Sienna, who is now four years old.
Beatrice, 37, and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi welcomed little Sienna in 2021 and celebrated the arrival of their second daughter, Athena, earlier this year in January.
This wasn’t Sophie’s first moment of quiet support for Beatrice. Royal watchers fondly remember the Duchess rushing to help a young Beatrice when she fainted at a public engagement in 1999, an early sign of the protective bond between them.
Sophie’s latest style tribute comes at a particularly difficult moment for Beatrice and her sister Princess Eugenie, who continue to face scrutiny in the wake of their father Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s downfall.
