Disgraced hip-hop mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has scored a rare procedural win in his ongoing federal case, after a US court approved his request for an expedited appeal.
The 56-year-old music icon, currently serving a 50-month prison sentence for trafficking individuals in prostitution, will now have the chance to challenge key elements of his conviction before his sentence nears completion.
Combs’ legal team argued that the usual 12–18 month appeals process would render any decision meaningless if completed after he had already served most of his term.
According to Fox News, the court’s decision to fast-track the case wasn’t a sign of doubt about the conviction but rather a bid to keep the process “meaningful.”
Legal experts have called the move a “lifeline” for the Last Night rapper, who could also seek a transition to a halfway house or home confinement if successful.
Insiders claim the Bad Boy Records founder's camp is also exploring a presidential pardon from Donald Trump, with sources telling TMZ the star remains confident the former president will intervene in 2026.
Combs, who was acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering earlier this year, is currently behind bars at the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix and has been fined around £390,000.
For the unversed, his release date is set for May 8, 2028, followed by five years of probation.
