Colin Farrell has confessed that his wild partying once left Hollywood legend Tom Cruise upset on the set of Minority Report.
The 49-year-old Irish actor, recently fresh off his new movie A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, revealed a shocking incident from the film’s production.
Appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Colin recalled how he turned up in no shape to film after a boozy birthday night out, despite starring in a $120 million Steven Spielberg blockbuster.
“It was my birthday, May 31,” he shared.
“I begged production not to make me work that day. Who did I think I was? I stayed out all night, and when I finally got into bed, the driver called saying it was 6 a.m. I’d missed my pickup.”
The Batman star, who later entered rehab for addiction issues, admitted he was still drunk when he arrived on set and even pleaded with the assistant director for “six Pacifico beers and a pack of Marlboro Reds” before shooting began.
Ultimately, the result was disastrous as it took him 46 takes to deliver a single line: “I’m sure you’ve all grasped the fundamental paradox of pre-crime methodology.”
“It was terrible,” he confessed. “Tom wasn’t very happy with me. He was not happy at all.”
Colin Farrell has been open about his struggles with alcohol and drug addiction in the past.
After years of hard partying during the early stages of his Hollywood career, he decided to seek help and entered rehab in 2005 shortly after finishing Miami Vice.
Since then, he has spoken candidly about maintaining his sobriety and how it has positively changed his life and career.
In 2018, he voluntarily checked into a wellness centre as a preventive measure to protect his sobriety after several years clean, proving his commitment to staying on track.
