Truth behind Ana de Armas, Tom Cruise dating rumours

After a whirlwind of romance rumours, Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas are reportedly remaining just friends; but did they ever actually date?

The Mission: Impossible star and Ballerina actress first sparked dating rumours after being spotted spending time together in February.

The pair continued to see each other more often over the summer and were photographed holding hands while on vacation in Vermont in July.

A couple of days ago, after reports surfaced claiming the two had split, a source revealed to PEOPLE that Cruise is a “dear friend and mentor” to de Armas and that she “very much enjoys spending time with him.”

“She’s single, though, and has been for a while,” the source added. “She stays in touch with Tom, and they still have an upcoming movie project that she’s looking forward to.”

Cruise and de Armas never publicly confirmed a romance between them. However, back in July, when the actress was seen showing Cruise around Vermont, reports claimed that she “really enjoys spending time with him.”

“They’ve become incredibly close, and Tom continues to be a huge support, both personally and professionally,” the insider shared at the time.

Earlier, in May, de Armas addressed the frequent sightings of the two, telling Women’s Wear Daily, “Obviously, everyone knows I'm working with Tom Cruise,” hinting at an upcoming action-packed project with director-producers Doug Liman and Christopher McQuarrie.

“And, of course, I'm doing crazy training, as you do when you're working with Tom,” she added. “It’s another level that just keeps setting the bar higher and higher. But it’s so much fun.”

Around the same time, Cruise also praised de Armas’ acting, calling her a “very, very talented, great dramatic actress.”
