Scarlett Johansson, who once worked with Hollywood legend Robert Redford, has made a surprising admission about him.
The 40-year-old actress, known for her blockbuster roles in the Marvel franchise, revealed that it was Robert who first inspired her to step behind the camera.
For those unfamiliar, the duo worked together on the 1998 Western The Horse Whisperer when Scarlett was just a teenager.
Unfortunately, the screen icon died earlier this month at the age of 89, leaving a lasting impression on the Black Widow star.
Speaking to Extra, she recalled: “I remember watching Bob choreograph a really complicated scene in the riding arena.
He was blocking it out, deciding when the camera was gonna go… and then having this intimate conversation with me as an actor. It just seemed like such an interesting job. I like being busy on set.”
Decades later, the Lucy actress has taken on the role of director for the first time with Eleanor the Great.
The heartfelt drama stars veteran actress June Squibb, who impressed the Falling Down singer from the very first take.
The Marvel superstar admitted the experience has been “really rewarding” and gave her a whole new respect for the filmmaking process.
She also premiered her film at Cannes and beamed as she walked the red carpet with Squibb and co-star Erin Kellyman.
Scarlett Johansson’s most recent movie release is Jurassic World: Rebirth, which came out in July 2025.
Moreover, her first venture into directing, Eleanor the Great, is set to release on September 26, 2025.
