Miley Cyrus, known for her wild antics, has melted hearts among fans with a deeply personal new release.
The 32-year-old pop sensation opens up in a heartfelt track, Secret, dedicated to her country star father, Billy Ray Cyrus, and featuring rock legends.
The emotional single dropped on Friday, September 19, and features Fleetwood Mac icons Mick Fleetwood and Lindsey Buckingham, adding a rock ‘n’ roll edge to the family-inspired ballad.
Notably, Secret marks her first track since her ninth studio album, Something Beautiful, released in May.
Taking to Instagram, the former Hannah Montana star gave fans a first look at the song, describing it as a heartfelt offering of reconciliation.
“This song was written as a peace offering for someone I had lost for a time but always loved. In my experience, forgiveness and freedom are one and the same,” she confessed.
The Flower singer continued, “Thank you to Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood for bringing magic to the music. This song is for my dad.”
The release comes just weeks after Billy revealed that Miley had surprised him with a musical gift on his 64th birthday, sparking speculation of a father-daughter reunion following years of reported distance.
Speaking previously on a podcast, the songstress also explained the song’s raw inspiration: “I wrote this song about my dad because I wanted to be the one he felt safe enough to tell me the things that were damning and damaging to the family.”
