Blake Lively beat THIS actress for ‘Gossip Girl’

American actress Blake Lively rose to global prominence after she starred on the hit series Gossip Girl.

The show started in 2007 and went on till 2012 spanning six seasons starring Blake Lively alongside Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chance Crawford and Ed Westwick.

Katie Cassidy recently revealed that she almost landed the role of Serena van der Woodsen, that eventually went to Blake.

“I don't know if I've ever spoken about this, but it was down to Blake Lively and myself to play Serena as the lead,”, Kate told Refinery29 Australia.

Praising Blake’s work, Katie said, “It was between Blake and I, but you know, when things are meant to be, they're meant to be, and clearly that was meant for her, and she did a wonderful job.”

Interestingly, Katie later appeared on the show as Juliet Sharp, Serena and Blair’s college nemesis.

Speaking of the role she said, “I love Josh Schwartz, and was very excited to be considered for the role.”

“I don't know if Leighton had any influence over that”, speaking about how she landed the role.
