Jennifer Lopez, renowned for her show-stopping performances, has finally revealed the Hollywood role she nearly landed but lost to Madonna.
The 56-year-old popstar, recently in the spotlight for her Up All Night: Live in 2025 tour, is now set to star in the forthcoming musical Kiss of the Spider-Woman.
At a 10 September Q&A with Variety for her highly anticipated thriller, Lopez reflected on the moment that almost changed her career when she auditioned for the 1996 film Evita.
“I had been practising for weeks and poured my heart into the performance, and [director Alan Parker] said, ‘You’re amazing.
You know Madonna has the part, right?’ I replied, ‘Okay, bye-bye. Nice to meet you,’” she shared, recalling the bittersweet experience.
Nearly three decades later, the On The Floor singer is finally embracing her musical moment.
Adapted from the 1993 Broadway show, Kiss of the Spider-Woman follows two prisoners who escape reality through imagined Hollywood musicals.
Notably, the Marry Me actress will be portraying the fictional screen star Ingrid Luna.
Jennifer Lopez's long-awaited musical debut, Kiss of the Spider-Woman opens in cinemas on October 10.
