Angelina Jolie's new project 'healed' her from personal loss

Hollywood diva Angelina Jolie appeared in her new movie seemingly honouring her late mother.

The actress stars in the upcoming drama film Couture in which she plays the role of a woman making a Paris Fashion Week runway film while getting divorced. The woman also comes to learn that she has breast cancer.

The movie, directed by Alice Winocour, felt personal for Angelina who has had a family history of cancer battles.

Angelina’s mother, Marcheline Bertrand, passed away from ovarian and breast cancer in 2007. Her aunt and grandmother also died from the same cancer.

In conversation with Variety, the actress said she wore her late mother’s necklace while shooting for the movie for comfort.

“I felt very vulnerable.”, she confessed.

Speaking about the project, Angelina said, “I feel like it’s such a personal film. It felt so private that in my mind, it’s probably the one film that doesn’t feel like a film.”

Angelina also admitted that shooting for this movie was a “healing” experience.

The movie star underwent a preventive double mastectomy in 2013 because she carried a BRCA1 gene.
