The singer, who has been dealing with declining health, took to Instagram to share he has completed 35 years of sobriety.

Sir Elton John has been sober since 1990 when he took a year off to pursue recovery after years of addiction to alcohol and drugs.

The music wrote on Instagram that he is “grateful for all the love” as he reached this milestone.

The picture he shared featured cards made by his sons Elijah and Zachary alongside a bouquet of flowers.

Previously he had said that after being sober his life had never been better as he called the addiction phase of his life a “waste”.

The posts comes after Elton had shared that he has been struggling with declining health and his vision has worsened with time after he caught a severe eye infection last year.
