Billy Joel exposes Elton John’s remark that made him hit ‘rock bottom’
Billy Joel and Elton John are two legendary musicians that did not get along well after a comment made by the latter.
In his bombshell documentary, Billy Joel: And So It Goes, the Big Shot singer discussed the reason behind his dislike of the Your Song singer soon after a leg of their joint tour.
The British pianist had said in an 2011 interview that the American songwriter needed to get help to deal with his addictions.
During the documentary, Billy states of the remark, "Elton had made a comment that he thought I needed real rehab, he chalked it up to, 'Oh, he’s a drunk.' And that really hurt me."
The Piano Man hitmaker continued, "I said wait a minute? Don’t you know me better than that? And there was bad blood for a little while. There was a dovetailing of things that happened during that time."
Meanwhile Elton had flat out told Rolling Stone that they were facing tour cancellations due to illnesses and alcoholism, before mentioning his tour mate and calling his confession tough love.
Notably, the two icons have since reconciled and the Uptown Girl crooner has also quit drinking.
