Jason Momoa sat down for an interview with Extra while attending the premiere of AppleTV+’s Chief of War in Kapolei, Hawaii.
He explained that he had not helped his son, Nakoa-Wolf land a role in Dune: Part Three.
Momoa himself starred in the first Dune film from Denis Villeneuve in the role of Duncan Idaho.
He has already announced that he will be returning for the next film after having sat out the sequel.
It was revealed back in June that his son with Lisa Bonet, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa has been cast in the upcoming movie along with Silo star Ida Brooke.
They will be taking on the roles of Leto II and Ghanima, the children of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya).
About his son’s casting, Momoa remarked, “A rude awakening is what he’s in for. He’s into the workforce for the first time. It’s going to be good. He did it on his own. I don’t want to help him, and he’s done it all on his own, and good for him.”
“You want your children to be better than you, and I really, actually believe he is,” he admitted. “I couldn’t do what he’s doing at his age. There’s no way I could sit in a room with Denis Villeneuve and hold my own. I was on ‘Baywatch’ at 19. He’s 16 and holding shit down with Denis Villeneuve.”
The actor concluded, “We raised him beautiful. We raised our children… It’s just, you know, being loved and being confident in themselves… That is what he is. He’s very confident.”
