Keke Palmer recently opened up about her wellness journey and what inspired her to reconnect with herself after becoming a mother.
The Nope actress reflects on her journey to motherhood as she spoke to Whoopi Goldberg at a 2026 Tribeca Film Festival Storyteller event in New York City earlier this month.
Interestingly, Keke, who welcomed her son Leo in February 2023, revealed that motherhood inspired her to reconnect with herself and her body in unique ways.
The I Love Boosters actress shared that after having a son, she wanted to reconnect with her body.
And the reason is, “pregnancy is such an out-of-body experience,” explained the 32-year-old.
However, Keke told Whoopi, “I started to realise being disembodied and kind of not being within myself has been something I was unconsciously doing.”
The Akeelah and the Bee actress mentioned that it was because of Pilates she started “to understand being intentional about choosing to stay in my body”.
Keke noted that Pilates might be one aspect of bringing her back to a new life.
The Good Fortune star pointed out that the exercise not only “trains” her to stay in body and hold her core, but it also showed her a way that it made her feel better in her daily life.
For Keke, wellness is far beyond gym and clean eating; it’s more of a lifestyle thing. This has allowed her to focus on finding a sustainable sense of balance in staying grounded.
“I'm in a tough situation that I maybe usually would leave, but I decided to stay present… I decided to pull through,” she added.
