Sabrina Carpenter, who is known creating chart-topping hits like Espresso and Manchild, broke silence after being called out for her 2024 W Magazine photoshoot.

The 26-year-old singer defended herself after a TikTok user pointed out similarities between her photoshoot and 1997’s Lolita.

The user posted Sabrina’s picture where she laid on grass with sprinklers spraying water above a screenshot from the movie.

The Feather hitmaker responded on the clip: “I’ve never seen this movie. It’s never been on my mood board.”

However, fans were not convinced as one netizen wrote: “thanks now I have a reason to actually hate her.”

As Lolita is considered controversial for its disturbing theme, one of the admirers admitted losing: “respect for her coz ain’t no way she’s romanticising a pedophile story.”

A user was furious at her defensive comment for “pretending she didn’t reference the movie again for the cd of the new album.”

However, a third fan pointed out that the songstress possibly “never heard of the movie and this is the photographers fault.”

What is Man’s Best Friend controversy?

This came after Sabrina made headlines for Man’s Best Friend’s album cover which was slammed for fuelling misogynistic stereotypes.

The cover featured the Grammy winner on her knees while a man pulled her blonde locks.

The songstress issued a statement for the haters: “if you can’t handle a girl who is confident in her own sexuality, then don’t come to my shows.”
